The SOURCE of the REAL CRISIS facing both private and public sector institutions around the world - - AND SOCIETY MORE GENERALLY - - is definitely NOT what most people believe or are led to believe.

A most recent case in point is the Financial Crisis of 2008 that spread globally. That event, together with other so-called crises that occur from time-to-time, is merely symptomatic of a much wider and more serious FUNDAMENTAL CRISIS that stems, in large measure, from the still-growing fallout of the Counter-Culture Movements started in America during the 1960s - - Counter-Culture Movements that over time ignited a CATASTROPHIC societal revolution that spread and eventually led to devastating consequences that:

    • Produced generations of people who lack the necessary fundamental values that equip them to do what's honorable and upright for, not only their own benefit, but also for the benefit of others and the greater good!

    • Negatively affected all types of Institutions and Organizations WORLDWIDE whose human resources, including many of their LEADERS and other PERSONNEL, are products of those very generations during which the IMPORTANCE of CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT that is based on HONORABLE VALUES and manifested in PRINCIPLED INDIVIDUAL BEHAVIOR was, and continues to be, disparaged or, at minimum, rendered inconsequential, by the attitudes, conduct, behavior, and complacency of too many people, including LEADERS AND OTHER PEOPLE OF INFLUENCE WORLDWIDE!

    • Detrimentally impacted GOVERNMENTS because of their politically-driven and often poorly equipped TRUE LEADERS whose institutions they direct should have been working for the benefit of the Nation and the People they serve and - - in the larger picture - - for the greater good of Society At Large. INSTEAD, these LEADERS too often have been working irresponsibly - - or at least unwittingly - - on their own behalf, including their personal and/or political agenda at the expense of, and severe damage to, the People and the Nation for whom they were elected to serve!
    • Affected most of the national and international media and press who should be independent, non-partisan watchdogs and reporters of accurate news but, instead, have become highly partisan RE-CREATORS and GENERATORS of "NEWS" that FUELS political wrangling that serves to divide the People and the Nation into extremely expensive and counter-productive political and ideological camps that debilitates both the PEOPLE and the NATION.

    • Negatively impacted the INTERNET, an extraordinarily valuable worldwide forum and marketplace for all people, INCLUDING, UNFORTUNATELY, THOSE WITH HATEFUL AND MALICIOUS INTENTIONS about whom the LEGISLATORS and the COURTS, including the U. S. Supreme Court, which at times have been seriously deficient in crafting and/or interpreting laws and/or cases that adequately protect law-abiding citizens!

    • Undermined and weakened LEADERS and THE PEOPLE more generally:

      • Many of whom have become complacent, thereby allowing Honorable Values And Behavior to be gradually and consistently subverted!

      • Who continually spend their time and money on much of the sheer waste and nonsense associated with political campaigns, many, not all, of whose candidates are often unqualified for holding public office and, when elected, deliver much of the same type of ineffective and costly governance that too often works for its own interests and that of well-financed interest groups rather than for the good of the People and the Nation!

 

Despite the
damaging and far-reaching
counter-productive impact

and Its
Institutions Worldwide,
this
FUNDAMENTAL CRISIS,
nevertheless,
DOES HAVE
an
ACHIEVABLE,

Leaders - - both in Business and Government - - continue to ignore the real solution to the most fundamental cause of the most serious problem that continues to negatively affect, not only the people and institutions in the United States, but also across the globe.

So long as the fundamental cause of this serious problem is allowed to continue unresolved, so too will the cycle of poor economic periods and other organizational and societal ills continue, leading to an even more serious, widespread social unrest and blatant disregard for the rule of law as was witnessed, for example, in the most recent economic downturn that became apparent to the general public in 2008.

Too many people today - - especially those in leadership positions in business and government - - believe, as they did in the past, that once recovery from a global economic crisis is fully achieved, then the serious problems that affect both the country and the global community will finally be resolved . . .

that extend far beyond the recent economic crisis . . .

organization and institution leaders of all types,

In government, for example, Leaders and others are divided intractably along political and idealogical lines. Add to that the fact that because they too often base many, if not all, important decisions along political and idealogical lines, any attempt to reach solutions that "actually work best for a nation and its people" has become increasingly more difficult and, too often, virtually impossible to achieve, especially in the absence of AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP WITH INTEGRITY:

there is too often a lack of
AUTHENTIC HONORABLE LEADERSHIP!

And,
when combined with
political expediency
and
the continuing
watered-down
INTEGRITY
on the part of
whatever

Politically-Driven
Government Administration
happens to be holding office
at any given time,

when combined with
the political
embellishments and distortions
that too often emerge
from those who have been elected
to represent the people and the nation,
THEN
the
Cost and Waste Become Enormous
while the
Results
on behalf of the people and the nation
Fall Far Short Of
ACHIEVEMENT!

And the same holds true

Private-Sector Organizations

where the
quality of
leadership and management,
particularly in more recent decades,
has diminished,
together with the
level of performance and integrity
That Was Once Expected Of Employees
And Their
Leaders!

In a democratic society,
the general public
"The People"
represent a vital part of a
nation's economy.

HOWEVER,
many of
these same people
either ignore
or lack those
TIME-HONORED VALUES
that are so indispensable for

one's
personal character, integrity, and behavior.

ABSENCE TODAY
OF A
CULTURE
UNDERPINNED
BY
HONORABLE VALUES
SERVES TO DIRECTLY UNDERMINE THE VERY
EFFECTIVENESS AND PERFORMANCE
OF A
NATION'S LEADERS,
ITS PEOPLE,
AND
ITS INSTITUTIONS!

 

 

It can be said, then, that the Economic Crisis
that initially became obvious to many in America in 2008
and quickly spread throughout the entire world community
has certainly had a major impact on many people and institutions
But Not For The Principle Reason Given
:

INSTEAD,
It was indicative of a period during which
leaders and others
associated with
financial, industrial, and government institutions worldwide
failed to carry out their work
with
INTEGRITY
for the good of ALL stakeholders.

Yes,
LEADERS
and
PEOPLE MORE GENERALLY
with
HONORABLE CHARACTER
could have prevented
this crisis!

But what actually happened
was indicative
of a
LACK
OF
HONORABLE CHARACTER
not only
AMONG LEADERS,
But Also
AMONG THE POPULATION MORE GENERALLY
who, while not having been
directly involved,
were, nevertheless
complicit
By The Very Way Many Conduct Their Own Affairs!


There certainly has been no shortage of commentators, pundits, and, more importantly, the people more generally who place the blame for the world crisis on big government, big business, and the wealthy, and no shortage of politicians who place the blame on the Other Party.

 

However,
rarely mentioned is the fact that the
GENERAL PUBLIC
COMPRISING
THE
PEOPLE THEMSELVES
often fai
l to effectively manage
their own obligations and affairs!
But
also,
by their very
acceptance of, or apathy towards,
the
declining values of conduct and behavior
that,
today, can be attributed to society worldwide,

The People,
Themselves,
Have Become Major
CONTRIBUTORS
To The Total Problem We Are Experiencing Today

Not very much in the way of change for the better can be expected in the future, without a comprehensive effort by "Leaders and Others in Positions of Influence" - - including parents - - to promote, BY THEIR LEADERSHIP AND EXAMPLE, sensible and positive behaviors and attitudes that lead to successful outcomes.

HOWEVER, this must be coupled with the general public's willingness to consider the benefits of working together with leaders for a better America and World Community - - a commitment that can only endure:

SYSTEMS AND ORGANIZATIONS
ARE MADE UP OF
PEOPLE,
INCLUDING

LEADERS AND
EMPLOYEES,
YES,

Whose Level And Quality
Of
Personal Character,
Or The Lack Thereof,
That They Demonstrate
IN THEIR JOBS,
WITH THEIR FAMILIES,

IN THEIR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS,

THE QUALITY OF OUR CULTURE,

THE LEVEL OF SUCCESS
OF THE VERY
SYSTEMS,
ORGANIZATIONS,

INSTITUTIONS
OF WHICH THEY ARE A PART.

THUS,

OFTEN-CITED
"FAILURE OF SYSTEMS AND INSTITUTIONS"
CONSTITUTES,
IN REALITY,
A FAILURE OF THE
PEOPLE
THEMSELVES - -
A
REALITY
MUCH TOO OFTEN
OBSCURED!

 

Today's LACK OF EXCELLENCE In Personal Character, Behavior, and Performance, together with the LACK OF AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP - - the very qualities needed to promote the time-honored values that constitute the core of achieving economic, social, and family success, while, at the same time, improving society at large - - the lack of these qualities JUST DIDN'T HAPPEN OVER NIGHT.

Those time-honored values that were once begun and practiced in many homes by parents, carried through and reinforced in the schools, and put into practice throughout all aspects of one's life . . . those very VALUES fell by the wayside over a period of years. They became more pronounced as the counter-culture movements of the 1960s gradually took hold, and over the next six decades, undermined the foundational unit of society - - the family and marriage itself! It was a counter-culture sentiment so popular in the minds of individuals, that it continues to undermine society even today! And the languishing state of the Culture, today, attests to that very fact!

During the early period
even before the 1960s,
irresponsible notions
were advanced,
by so-called experts . . .
notions that children and young adults
needed little in the way of
attention, discipline, guidance,
and the
structure, care, and responsibility
that family life
with a mother and father
"imposed"!

This notion gradually became popular
among adults
whose responsibility towards their children became secondary
to
THEIR OWN
PRIMARY PURSUIT OF
"INDEPENDENCE AND HAPPINESS".

This fracture of traditional family life
led to generations of people
who, today, are lacking
in the core values
that the traditional family provided.

Since the '60s, for example, traditional marriage and family life have often been replaced by less formal relationships
in which
commitments,
if they exist at all,
are fluid and flexibly defined.

The COUPLES
became the focus,
at the expense of
CHILDREN,
and when these relationships fail,
as many do,
the couple move on to the next relationship,
often to the detriment of any children involved.

This legacy of the counter-cultural revolution of the 1960s and the earlier flawed advice of so-called child-care specialists are alive and well,
as many,
today,
continue to seek the
"perfect informal relationship"
as the replacement for
"traditional marriage"- -
traditional marriage
that was
often characterized
as the
"marriage hypocrisy"
by the
"revolutionaries"
of the '60s
and
those of like-mind who followed!

Lifelong Commitment
Of Love And Respect

BOTH
HUSBAND AND WIFE,
and the extension of that
commitment
to the responsible upbringing of their children,
WITHIN A FAMILY ENVIRONMENT
in which
love and honorable values
are, not only expected, but
MUST BE
PRACTICED AND EXEMPLIFIED
BY BOTH PARENTS.

The Counter-Culture Revolutionaries
were basing
their views of marriage
on a
"Distortion and Misinterpretation Of The Institution",
based, in some cases, on
their own family experience
that may have been disordered
and/or perhaps not to their personal liking,
but also
based on
the parallel
sexual revolution
that was taking place
that challenged
TRADITIONAL VALUES
related to
sexuality
and
interpersonal relationships.


THE
LONG TERM IMPACT

of
these two

counter-culture
movements
was
simply
TOO ALLURING,
not only for
young people,
but,
eventually,
also
for
many others,
who
compromised
their
POSITIVE
VALUES AND BELIEFS . . .

VALUES, BELIEFS,
(AND COMMON SENSE)
that
Should Have Enabled Them
To Fully Understand The
Destructive Nature
And
Disorder
That These
Counter-Culture
Movements
Would Cause,
Not Only For Themselves,
But Also For
Future Generations!
"


Thus, the resultant lack of HONORABLE VALUES wreaked havoc on society during and since the 1960s. This not only affected the family and marriage in negative ways, but also extended, over time, to other parts of society including today's diminished level of values represented by many of the actions of leaders and others in business, government, and other types of organizations worldwide, and, of course, by members of society more generally.

And those who today follow such a distorted view as regards the most fundamental unit of society, and continue with greater frequency to seek the easy solution to happiness and success in informal and often transient relationships outside of the natural, age-old institution of marriage and the family unit, they should seriously reconsider and ultimately embrace a life based on enduring relationships and honorable values that constitute the natural foundation upon which the responsible upbringing of children is facilitated, order to society is advanced, organizations and institutions can prosper, and society at large will eventually benefit!

 

Putting It In Perspective

GCC believes that the leaders in business, government, and other organizations, together with advisors, consultants, and those in subsidiary roles within these organizations, are strategically positioned to begin a fundamental change process that is long overdue.

It shouldn't really take very much in the way of general observation to conclude what the damaging legacy of the counter-cultural revolution, started in the 1960s and continuing even today, has had on society in general, on its institutions and organizations of all types, and on the individual in particular, having created a social and cultural upheaval of globally negative, counter-productive proportions that would appear to be irreversible.

Adding to that serious problem, many of today's leaders in government, business, and other types of organizations, who daily are faced with difficult crises, continue to perform their leadership roles with little regard, if any at all, to the single most relevant factor that would, not only improve their leadership effectiveness, but also, impact their stakeholders in ways that would serve to improve the bottom line, both in mission and financial terms, to levels that were heretofore impossible to achieve.

GCC does not expect all leaders and others to suddenly agree and refocus their lives for their own good and that of society in general. It is likely to take time before they finally come to focus on and realize that GCC's solution is solidly grounded and NOT "the typical short-term or quick remedy-type solution offered by executive and management advisors, consultants, politicians, or other so-called experts".

The REAL CRISIS, in fact, can be attributed, in great measure, to the breakdown of time-honored values in individuals that leaders and others keep ignoring - - the very values that are so indispensable for achieving excellence in whatever a person sets out to accomplish on behalf of a friend, an acquaintance, an organization, an institution, a nation, etc., that will ultimately benefit society at large.
