As a result, there exists, today, the Absence of Principled Competent Leadership among many of today's Leaders and others in positions of influence!

This lack of Leadership occurs not only in Government and Business, but also in other types of organizations and institutions including, for example, Not-For-Profit, Faith-Based, etc., Organizations.

Also important to include - - as this Website will demonstrate and affirm - - is the FAMILY UNIT, the most fundamental institution of society where positive values should have been implanted and cultivated but too often were ignored if not subverted!

A Look Back At The Major Contributing Factors

Regardless of what many misguided Popular Culture adherents, enthusiasts, advocates, and revisionists would have us believe, it is Irrefutable that the "Family Unit" constitutes Society's Most Fundamental And Vital Institution!

Unfortunately, as Society evolved - - especially, but certainly not only in the more recent decades among the more developed nations - - the Traditional Family Unit began to diminish in status and significance among too many, as the result of the following:

First, the Anti-Establishment Onslaughts Of The 1960s that eventually spread worldwide and led to a decline in the practice and observance of honorable values and codes of conduct!

Then came the rejection, by many, of marriage itself!

Eventually, even parents began to gradually neglect fulfilling their primary leadership and nurturing roles in the family unit, as they pursued other interests more to their own personal liking!

Then the quality of schools, began to decline after the 1950s. In the public schools, their was a dramatic upswing in bad behavior followed by crime, violence, and drugs!

In parallel, student behavior in many colleges and universities continued to worsen to the point that can best be described as morally bankrupt. Too often, little, if any, EFFECTIVE leadership was employed by the institution's administration. Student groups began to exercise their "presumed rights" in ways that eventually, in the eyes of the general public, diminished both the reputations of the students as well as that of the institutions whose administrations too often capitulated.

NOTE: The "presumed rights" mentioned above were often (not always) the result of misguided decisions of the courts, including the Supreme Court, whose opinions -- not unlike the general population -- were too often split along ideological biases, with the added element of couching their language in legalese.

 

What, then, Is Needed?

What is urgently needed today, is a commitment, not only by people more generally who by their example and interactions can potentially influence others in positive ways, but also, by LEADERS in today's Organizations and Institutions of all types (e.g., government, private sector, faith-based, etc.) who, by their very positions of leadership, can potentially exert a very positive influence on the lives of many. This assumes, of course, that the core values of the leaders themselves are an important part of their personal character and very lives!

People of Honorable Character including Those In Positions Of Influence In Government and In Other Types of Organizations should commit themselves to restoring and upholding fundamental principles such as:

A Stable, Enduring Family Unit as one in which, Character and Honorable Values are introduced and practiced.

It should later be supplemented by a responsible elementary and secondary formal education in which TEACHERS reinforce, not replace, the continuing positive values introduced in the home!

NOTE: New Enforceable Guidelines for U.S. Schools will be required to ensure that curricula and other programs, particularly those of more recent decades, are in line with Sound, Responsible Academic Principles and Honorable Values, an approach that individual States should implement!
