Introduction

Following is but one example of ineffectiveness related to Presidential Debates, a topic that probably more Americans than ever before viewed during the 2015 - 2016 Primary Debates/Elections:

 

     

    The TV Presidential Debates often provide the viewing audience their first opportunity to be introduced to the candidates and to view how they perform in a question and answer format: e.g., "What would you do about this or that?" or "How would you handle this?", etc.

    While those debates give an indication of the candidate's "speaking skills" and, perhaps, "quick thinking skills", they do NOT necessarily provide an indication of the person's "Leadership Skills" that are so extremely vital for a President of the United States to possess, especially if anything of substance and importance is to be accomplished!

    A candidate's "Past Experience and History As A Proven Successful Leader" is a far more reliable indicator - - NOT the person's speaking skills or charisma, as desirable as those traits may also be.

It is that very "partisan political component" that is counter-productive and detrimental, in many respects, and yet with the support of an equally partisan Electorate - - the People - - has long been the mode of operating, both on the part of the Government and on the part of the People.

Therefore:

  • Politicians In The Two Political Branches Of Government, who are accustomed to the usual practice of "Partisan Politics", will NOT be particularly interested in changing their mode of operating without some firm convincing by a True Leader in the Executive Branch, and

  • PEOPLE IN THE ELECTORATE, who are accustomed to basing their voting decisions principally on "Their Political And Ideological Inclinations" will NOT be particularly interested in changing their mode of operating unless a True Leader Is In Charge Especially In The Executive Branch but also in the Two Houses of Congress!

The PEOPLE who make up the Electorate also have a vital role in changing the way Washington Works.

They are NOT Completely Blameless in the deficient and regrettable state of Government both as discussed on this Website and as witnessed daily by no small number of Americans.

Many People claim that they are too busy with their own lives and have little time, if any, to actively concern themselves with the current way that campaigns and elections are conducted, except, perhaps, to cast their vote.

To a certain extent, because of the partisan politics and appalling political displays associated with the current state of campaigns and elections, much of that thinking can be somewhat justified.

Others, on the other hand, do take a more active role because they are convinced that their party's candidate would make a better President.

For this to occur would require either the Sitting President or a Future President and/or the Sitting or Future Leaderships in both Houses of Congress to take a stand and basically adopt the firm position:

GCC's Leadership Strategy for Government was designed by GCC to deal with and solve the most fundamental problem in Government at the highest levels.

That problem, simply stated, is that:

  • Politics - - rather than the legitimate needs of the People and the Nation - - is what often defines the agenda in Washington

  • Politics dictates what gets done and how it gets done, and then, the people are left with the consequences, and thus:

    The People always end up paying for the inappropriate and irresponsible decisions of government; i.e., of Presidents, Congresses and Other Leaders in Government!
  •  

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

For the purpose of applying GCC's Leadership Strategy in Government, GCC makes an important distinction between two parts of Government:

  1. The Part Of Government Tied To Politics And Elections:

    This is the part
    in which elected officials and their appointees hold office and serve for fixed periods (determined by law and/or elections); i.e., the Executive and Legislative Branches:

    GCC believes it is both essential and urgent that "CHANGE" to this part of government be dealt with first.

    The reason for this is that the "POLITICS" in government is one of the two principal causes of why the government fails, and continues to fail, to work effectively, efficiently, economically, and ethically for the American People and the Nation. The other cause has to do with the "Lack of Authentic Leadership with Integrity"!

  2. The Permanent Part Of Government NOT Tied Directly To Politics Nor To Elections:

    This part
    includes the hundreds of thousands of officials and workers who are employed (but not politically elected or appointed) to manage and carry out the daily work and services of government:

    GCC believes that "CHANGE" to this part of government (i.e., the permanent part of government) should be dealt with following the completion of 1 above that deals with the "politics" in government.

    Once that is dealt with, then a different strategy; i.e., GCC's General Strategy for All Types of Organizations would be applied to this permanent part of government.

So, before attempting to apply "CHANGE" to the permanent part of Government (as defined in 1 above, GCC believes it is urgent that the fundamental problem of "politics"- - particularly at the Executive and Legislative levels of Government (1 above) - - be addressed and solved first using GCC's Strategy for Government which is the strategy you are currently reading.

With the right type of LEADERSHIP, as described by GCC, and less of the "politics and over-indulgent pride" - - it becomes quite possible to address and solve many problems and issues of priority and concern.

Washington is certainly not short of people in both Congress and the Office of the President – – considering all of their experts, advisors, and other staff – – to be able to effectively handle multiple jobs on behalf of the American People!

In fact, GCC's Strategy for Government allows for doing just that, in a sensible, non-political, timely way, with the most pressing issues worked on at the very same time that progress can be made on the over-arching issue related to "changing the way Washington works"!

The deep-seated culture in Washington is a serious problem for the American People and the Nation!

That culture distracts and even prevents those who "represent" the American People – – those in Washington who too often are the very embodiment of that dysfunctional culture – – from carrying out, in the most effective, efficient, economical, and ethical way possible, the important work of the People and the Nation, for whom those very representatives and officials in the Institutions of Government are there to serve!

Asking "What Part of Working for the American People don't politicians get?" is always a good question for reminding those in Washington why they are there!

Although presidents and other politicians have promised "change" in Washington, THAT PROMISE STILL REMAINS UNFULFILLED!

However "Real Change in the Way Washington Works" is still possible with the right strategy and the right leadership!

Real Change is NOT likely to come from politicians - - Not from Democrats, Not from Republicans, Nor from Independents!

Simply put, there is a serious lack of connection between many politicians and the American People whom these politicians were voted Into office to represent but, too often, disregard and even mislead.
